Scouts Programs
There are many exciting programs offered by
Scouts Rivorton with the help of members of the
community, just like you. Our programs are
designed to meet the needs of various age groups
and experience levels, they are open to both
girls and boys and encourage community
involvement, leadership skills and positive
mentoring.
Beavers
(boys and girls ages 5-7) |
|
Sharing the
Adventure
Fun and friendship are the cornerstones of the Beaver program. Through an adventurous program of outdoor activities, creative play, music, and
cooperative games, Beavers enjoy time with their friends (and meet new ones),
learn how to get along within a group, and develop the confidence to be
themselves.
Beavers share many outdoor adventures with their friends in the colony.
Nature walks, short hikes, tree plantings and family sleepovers give Beavers a
taste of outdoor fun. Through these activities, Beavers develop an
appreciation and a sense of caring for the environment.
Beavers are a vital part of the community, country and world in which they
live. Visits to parks, power plants, fire and police stations thrill young
Beavers and illustrate the many important facets of their community.

Cubs
(boys and girls ages 8-10) |

Outdoor Adventure
Challenging hikes, weekend camps, and
an introduction to water activities like
canoeing or kayaking are just a few of the fun
outdoor adventures that Cubs enjoy.
With the Cub motto of "Do Your Best"
front and centre, Cubs are encouraged to try new
and more challenging activities. Learning
important first aid skills, paddling a canoe for
the first time, or leading a game at camp will
open the door for Cubs to try other adventures
they never thought possible.
Cubs also experience an exciting variety of
other activities: games and sports,
model-building, music, story-telling and
play-acting. And like Beavers, Cubs enjoy
their adventures with their friends.

Bring on the Adventure!
Enjoy
mountain biking, rock-climbing, canoeing,
kayaking, extended hikes and lots of camping
These are just a few of the adventures you'll tackle in Scouting.
You'll enjoy your outdoor adventures as part
of a team, working together with other young
people to accomplish thrilling challenges.
Scouting gives every member a chance to be a
leader. It might involve running an
activity, organizing a camp, or participating
with other young people across your province or
Canada in a youth forum.
Scouts meet in a group called a troop.
The troop is split into smaller groups called
patrols. There is one leader for every six
Scouts. Each Scout learns a promise, law
and motto to help guide their personal
development.

see what's right for you.

Bring on the Adventure
The outdoors is an essential part of
the Rover program. Rovers often
participate in adventurous activities like
mountain climbing, white water rafting, or
para-sailing.
Rovers also help their local communities by
running service activities such as food drives,
park clean-ups, and tree plantings.
Rovers meet in a group called a crew.
Rovers develop and manage their own program
under the mentorship of a respected
advisor. Rovers adhere to a promise and
motto.

Be a Leader
(men and women over 18)
|
|
|
Share the adventure of a lifetime with your kids...
Make memories you'll keep forever.
- Enjoy the outdoors
- Learn new skills
- Make new friends
- Be part of a team
- Spend quality time with your children
It's easy...
We'll help you every step of the way. You'll
receive a personal interview, provide us with
personal references, and apply for a Police
Records Check. With one-on-one help from an
experienced coach, you'll participate in a
three-month orientation and probation period
where you'll learn all the basics to help you
provide great programs for youth.
Once you become a leader, you're provided with
further training and plenty of tools and support
to help you on your way. You can attend courses
and workshops, you'll receive Leader magazine
every month, and you can find lots of resources
on the Scouts Canada web site.
It's interesting...
There is no limit to what you can learn! Outdoor
camping techniques, crafts, games, and leadership
training are only a few of the valuable skills
you'll gain as a leader.
It's fun...
You'll meet other parents and be part of a great
team committed to providing safe, fun and
interesting activities for kids.
We need dedicated adults to help offer adventure
and education for young people. If you can commit
12 - 14 hours per month, you can make a
difference in the lives of many kids, and help
shape a better world for tomorrow.
We need people just
like you!
